Starting from the low valleys of eastern Nepal, the route passes trough cultivated farmland and villages and leads along rivers and through picturesque landscape. Higher up, Tibetan villages with wooden houses, prayer flags and mani stone are encountered. On the way, there are stunning views of Jannu. Then Pang Pema, the base camp of Kanchenjunga, is reached, surrounded by an incredible array of high peaks.
